If Wrestling’s So Fake…
March 23rd, 2007Despite a painful neck injury, Missy Sampson stops by with her new column.
If wrestling’s so fake, what are these hospital bills for?
Missy Sampson — The Luscious Lowdown
Ok so once again I am really behind in my updates. Anyway about three weeks ago I worked the WSU All Women’s Show. I had a blast and absolutely appreciated my own personal cheering section! Also being surprised by Dave showing up was great! I got to referee three matches full of people I absolutely adore! The tag match was fun although I threatened to kill Cha Cha if she ever made me yell that much at her again! Also it was not cool that Jana tried to get me to dance! Thank god I scurried out of that.
I also got to referee Alicia vs. Becky Bayless. Now anyone who toys around on my myspace knows that I look at Alicia like my little sister and would kill you three times over for even looking at her the wrong way. So some were a little concerned about me reffing this match. I guess they were worried Becky would hit Alicia and I would snap. However I also have a long history with Becky. In some ways she is also like a little sister to me! I love that girl and I have known her forever! So I had no choice but to call this one down the middle. The one time my feelings probably did get the better of me is when Becky forearmed Alicia in the mouth and then hit Tornado DDT, busting Alicia’s mouth wide open. When I saw the blood coming out of Alicia’s mouth I almost had a heart attack! I asked Becky to hold on a second so I could check Alicia. As I was trying to explain to Becky what happened Alicia attacked her from behind. Alicia ended up making Becky tap out. I physically had to pull Alicia off of Becky. It was a freaky scene!
I also had the pleasure of refereeing Talia versus Daffney. Two women I also adore the hell out of! Talia, however, had me wanting to kill her by the end of this match as she kept breaking the rules! My voice was almost gone and she had me repeatedly screaming at her. Talia ended up pinning Daffney after a lung blower out of the corner.
To anyone who was at the WSU Women’s show I need your help here. Some very outspoken gentleman in the audience had the audacity to tell me I was lackadaisical in my reffing. All I can say is “What up wit dat?”
After the WSU show was over I hung around for the NWA-Pro show that night. I got booked to wrestle Kylie Pierce for the first time ever. While I like Kylie personally I never knew she was such a rule breaker! I had my hair yanked every which way and clumps of it actually pulled out! I however was able to pick up the victory in the end!
Also at the NWA-Pro show I finally got to meet people like Minyon and Slim Jenkins who I have only known via this lovely website. Two very awesome people who could not have been more apologetic about Burger King not having Cheesy Tots for me! I forgive you guys!
2 weekends ago I debuted for RPWF in Stroudsburg, PA. Unfortunately they could not find a female opponent for me so I had no choice but to go to the ring and challenge any man in the back to come wrestle me. That challenge was answered by Gyoza. Some masked Japanese guy who was really freaking weird. Long story short he came to the ring with nun chucks and a Japanese flag. After I beat the ever-loving crap out of him I decided to clock him with the nun chucks and drape him in his flag. Actually half the crowd loved watching me do this!
The bad part of this match was the injury to my neck. During my Sampson Slam (spinning rock bottom), Gyoza hooked my head, which jerked it down toward the mat. I felt a sharp pain in my neck and thought I pulled a muscle. I let it go. Sunday I just iced it and laid around the house. Monday it hurt but nothing more then a pulled muscle would. However Tuesday I went to work and ended up with a sharp pain running up my neck into my head, halfway down my back and then down my right shoulder and into my right arm. This is when I started to think something might be really wrong! I called my doctor and made an appointment to go see him Tuesday afternoon. By the time I got to his office I could hardly move my neck. I sat in the doctor’s office for about an hour until I could be seen. When the doctor finally came in, I explained everything to him and after a brief examination he immediately sent me to the emergency room for an x-ray on my neck. He was afraid I might have fractured my neck.
I drove my car to my parents and my mom took me to the hospital and dropped me off. I was taken back pretty quickly and had multiple x-rays of my neck taken. Finally it was determined that I had not fractured or broken anything and just had a severely sprained cervical. They prescribed me some medication to help me out (and it has) and I went home. I took off at the doctor’s request Wednesday from work and just alternated ice and heat on my neck. Needless to say though, the ice storm over the weekend didn’t help when I was forced to chop and shovel ice! It re-aggravated my neck and I’m not as far healed as I’d like to be. I’ll get there though and I do have the next couple weekends off which is nice.
The autograph signing I was scheduled to participate in last weekend also got cancelled due to the weather. Hopefully it will be rescheduled to a later date. Well I think that’s everything for now. I mean there are a lot more things I could go off on but I think this is enough for now. Shout outs to Tracy who has been feeling left out as of late. Sorry sis! Also big ups to Brodie Lee just for being you and making sure that I get reality! Lol Ok be safe gang! Visit my website www.MissySampson.com
