October 18th, 2007Miss Ayn asked for your Views on Benoit and the Hall of Fame, and boy, did you send them!
Miss Ayn: Annie’s View
Annie’s View - Well, really, YOURS
Hello Viewers,
I thought I would be back sooner rather than later but I got a puppy. Yep. she’ll be 8 weeks tomorrow and well, I have just been consumed with her and put everything else pretty much on the back burner. Sorry about that. Didn’t know hubby was going to give me this gift. I love her!!!
Now on to wrestling. So, John Cena has finally been hurt. Well, you could read the writing on the wall couldn’t you? With no time off to rest and his being on every single RAW not to mention the PPV’s and of course house shows, I’m really surprised he didn’t hurt himself sooner. Get well John. You’re needed.
SCSA’s movie was pretty good. A little bloody and everyone pretty much died but you know, it was really good. Loved the ending. Hey, someone had to be the ONLY winner right?
Now on to you.
This week I’m only sending the letters about Chris Benoit and if he should be in the HOF.
Boy, you’re verbal about this and I for one, can so understand it.
I love Benoit and I truly think that one day he’ll get to join his peers. I mean, since they actually looked into his brain and found so many things that could have made him do this (not that it’s an out or anything) but clearly he was no longer himself.
Bret Hart had seven concussions when he finally got to see a doctor, and Benoit sadly, never went to the doctor for that, so his went undetected.
It is with these things in my mind that I say Let Benoit in. His career was fabulous and I believe that if we judged someone getting in to the Hall of Fame by EVERY thing they have done, not too many would be in there. But that’s Annie’s View and now here are some of yours.
From a great friend and Viewer named Julie who wrote this about Chris Benoit:
Well Annie,
I think the Chris Benoit murder and suicide of himself and his family was horrible. It brings out just how serious this addiction that many professional and nonprofessionals need to realize and that is there is no place for it in your body.
As far as ruining wrestling, wrestling was ruined for me a long time ago when Bret Hart was forced to retire. I do think that it shows everyone that Vince knows who is taking them and has let it go on for way too long.
Hopefully something good will come out of this and hopefully wrestlers and other pro athletes will take note of how it can affect your mind, body and soul. Murder, suicide and steroid rage is no laughing matter.

~answer~Abso-f*cking-lutely not.
~rant about answer~ I think his name should be stricken from everything it’s ever been written on. Or maybe just make sure the words CHILD KILLER are stamped over his name, on everything it’s ever been printed on. I’d even like to see his parents beaten and tossed in jail for even bringing that fool into the world. Man, I hope he died slow, struggling to get free. But, if there is a hall of fame for complete wastes of oxygen that should have taken themselves out YEARS ago, to spare the rest of the world (not to mention their families) all that pain & misery…. I’d put him at the top of the list for that.
Another Viewer, Peter wrote this:
Absolutely. Many of the HOF inductees have skeletons in their closets. Plus, there is substantial evidence that Benoit’s mental problems were brought about by injuries that he sustained in the ring. Bottom line, he was one of the greatest technical pro wrestlers of all time and he should be remember for his contributions to the sport.
Steve wrote this:
No. Being in the Hall of Fame is not only a recognition of your career in your respective sport, but your actions on and off the court/field/ring. Although the former was stellar that latter makes his career about as meaningful as a dry hump. We may as well be talking about the accomplishments of Iron Mike Sharpe.
SamJerry NEVER answers my question of the week…. till now. His answer shocked me. Here it is:
I think you mean Hall of Shame, along with other murderers.
Max wrote this simple answer:
YES!!! He was a “wrestler” who deserves it. His personal life is not part of that decision-making process. Many of the past stars could have had bad personal lives, but that didn’t come into play when making HOF decisions. Just because the personal life (and death) of Benoit is public does not diminish his wrestling legacy - just his personal legacy, which is not a criteria for eligibility.
Mike said this:
Eventually he should be allowed in
His accomplishments out weight anything else in his life
Karen sent me this:
Yes, Chris Benoit should definitely be in the Hall of Fame. With all the information that’s come out, it’s pretty clear he was mentally ill at the time of the murder/suicide. While that doesn’t make anything right, it’s also recognized in our judicial system that people who are so mentally ill that they are not able to help themselves, are not responsible for their actions. That’s why there’s a verdict of “Not guilty by reason of insanity.”
Charity had this to say on Benoit and the HOF :
For personal life reasons: No. For wrestling contributions: Yes.
Max had this to say on Benoit:
Yes - he was a great wrestler. What he did after was due to brain injuries, as has been documented. Those were caused by McMahon’s pressures and practices.
And finally, Patrick had this to say:
Absolutely f*cking not. I was a fan of his as much as anyone, more so perhaps, but you murder your kid, no matter what your excuse, you lose all such rewards and accolades. Did he do a lot for wrestling, sure he did. The biggest thing, showing how all these roided out athletes can snap and kill innocent people. Had he just popped himself, fine let him in, but when he started a body count, he lost my respect/admiration and became another piece of crap.
There you have it. Some of your Views. Who do you agree with? Disagree? Or did you think anyone was just full of it?
I thank you all for your answers and the next one will be the answers on Who the REAL King is.
Enjoy the View and remember be good or be like me really good doin’ it
