Jaden — A Column about Nothing?
January 10th, 2008The notorious Jaden checks in with his latest column, all about…. nothing?
Jaden — Tellin’ D. Truth
A Column about Nothing?
.
.
I know it has been a while, but I am here to once again entertain and inform you. This column is about absolutely nothing. That’s right nothing. If Seinfeld can do a show about nothing, I can do a column about nothing. I am just going to babble on about what ever is going on in my mind.
What’s the the deal with these wrestling promoters who put on a show, book talent, then don’t advertise? Do they like losing money? Do they like having little to no crowd at the show? Do they even want to run another show? It is simple people - You can have Hulk Hogan, The Rock, John Cena, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, a Hot Young Virgin for every male in the audience, Free Beer, a $100 bill on every seat and an all you can eat candy bar, and yet if no one knows about it, you won’t draw one person. It is simple people, and good ol’ JADEN is going to help you.
#1. Fliers: Fliers are cheep to make, easy to handle and easy to distribute. Get a street team together and paper the town with your fliers. Get them on every car window in the parking lots of your local Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, mall, convenience store and mom and pop shop you can. Put them in windows of stores, hand them out to people as they exit buildings with heavy foot traffic. Go to a local sporting event and pass them out, go to other wrestling shows and pass them out. Go to local concerts and pass them out. It seems from my experience for every 10 fliers you pass out you get 1 person, so if you need 500 fans you pass out 5,000 fliers. Make sure you pass them out also. They do no one good if they are sitting on the back seat of your car, or if they are still in the Staples box. If you don’t have time to do this yourself, then get a team to do it for you. If you can’t do that, then you don’t belong promoting.
#2. Posters: I don’t find them as effective as fliers, but they make a great 1/2 punch when done along with fliers. Get them into store windows. Get them on every telephone pole in a 20 square mile radius from the show’s location. Make sure that no matter where you look, you see posters. Like fliers they don’t do any good unless you get them the hell out so they can be seen. Also, make sure your posters and fliers have the word “wrestling” on them. Might seem silly, but it matters. Also make sure they have the location of the show, time it starts, date it is happening, stars on the show (don’t false advertise), ticket price, where to get tickets, the web page, the Myspace page and everything you can put on there to let people know about your product.
#3. TV and Radio: Of course there are commercials on Raw, ECW and TNA, but that does not have to be all. Find a local news program to do a segment on your show. Get on local interview programs to talk about the show. See if your cable company has a free cable bulletin board that you can advertise on. There are radio shows all over who are run by people who like wrestling. See if you can get a local radio DJ to MC the event for you. If you do, they will talk about the show left and right. See if you can get stars on the popular radio shows to do interviews and to plug the shows you have coming up. See if there is a college near you. They often have radio stations and would love to have wrestlers on them. Also set up ticket giveaways on the radio shows. It helps make the show look special and bigger than it might be. Oh, and do radio commercials.
#4. Newspapers: Newspaper print ads so you can go that route, but also call the sports department and see if you can get a mention in the sports section. Talk to a columnist of the paper and see if you can get them to do a special interest story. Even if it is just a small plug on an upcoming events in the town section it is still better than nothing.
#5. Word of mouth: Make sure you tell every one you know about the show. If you are handing out fliers or hanging posters, make sure you talk to the public to let them know what you are doing and why. Tell them about how great your wrestlers are, and how innovative the matches are. Talk about them being on WWE or TNA TV recently, or how they had try outs for the big time. Make them seem larger than life. Also make your show look like the WrestleMania of indy shows. If you make the fans think it is a can’t miss event, then they won’t miss it.
#6. The Internet: Most so called wrestling promoters ONLY use this, but this should be on the bottom of the list. It does help, not as much as the above, but it does help. Get a list of every wrestling web page, news site, forum, Yahoo group and Myspace group, and post the hell out of the show on each and every one. Make sure your Web page and Myspace pages are updated with current information so people who look online can know what is going on. There are Internet radio shows like Mike Trash’s Trash Talking Radio: Get yourself, a star on the show, or some one who is good at talking to put over the product on that show and on any other Internet wrestling radio show you can get your guest on. You need to whore this show out on the net so no mater where any one looks they will see something about your show. If you havea company Myspace, then make a Myspace event for the show and invite all of the company’s buddies. If you have a poster, then scan it and not only post it on your page but as a comment on every wrestler on the show’s page. If a wrestler on your show has a web page, make sure they mention the show and whore it out on there. The Internet is free so use it for everything you can. If you want you can buy an ad on a local wrestling web page, but that should be the last thing you do for advertising, after you do steps 1-5
#7. The Post show: Make sure you let people know about your next show while they are still at the current show. Have tickets for sale at intermission. Paper the seats with fliers of the next show. Have your Ring Announcer talk about it in between matches. Set up angles/matches to get people interested in the next show. Make sure you get the results out there as soon as possible. See if your local paper will print them. Get them into Pro Wrestling Illustrated and any other print magazine. Update your Website/Myspace with the results. Send them all over the Internet: Make any one who missed the show sorry they did, by hyping just how good the show was. Make sure the show was good so everyone at the show talks about it to their friends, and next time more people show up. I don’t care how much you advertise, if you have a shitty show no one will come to see it (or if they do, they won’t come back).
Well I guess that column about nothing turned into how to get the word out about your show. Hopefully you will take my advice and do it. It makes wrestling better when you do.

F-1PW “Badge of Honor” results for 1-5-08
1. “The Sure Thing” Ryan Wing defeated Panther. This was a close match up. The fans were very behind Panther from the start of the match. Ryan Wing used his more aggressive nature to come out the victor.
2. “The Hybrid” Josh Adams defeated Fierce Fuego in his Force One debut. “The Ultimate Studd” Jimmy Clydesdale came out several minutes into the match and hooked Fuego’s leg as he was going for a suplex onto the “Hybrid” and helped the new comer to the Victory. Is the “Hybrid” the wrestler Jimmy Clydesdale promised to debut at this show??
3. Judas Young won the Force One Junior Heavyweight championship over Diego DiMarco (with Millionaire Ted Jr. & Jennifer Lynn).. After the match, Ted Jr. walked off on the former champion… Manager Jimmy Clydesdale then consulted with Diego. It seems that Diego may be joining Clydesdale’s “Studd Stable”
4. In a 4 way to decide the number one contender for the Force One Heavyweight Championship, Danny Doring prevailed over “Hotshot” Mike Reed, the “Midnight Idol” Nicky Benz, and The Rockin’ Rebel. The match started off like a battle royal and the first two eliminations can happen by going over the top rope. After that it was a regular one on one match up. The Rockin’ Rebel eliminated both Reed and Benz with a fire ball to both of their faces as they were fighting on the top rope. Danny Doring then Pined the Rebel to earn a match for the Force One Pro Wrestling Iron League Heavyweight Title on February 16th in Manahawkin, NJ
5. In an amazing 6 man tag team match Ryu Lee and the Osirian Portal battled Razor Rivera and High Impact to a no contest when former partners now bitter enemies Razor & Ryu refused to stop punching each other repeatedly in the face. This feud between Razor and Ryu is not over and a future Tag Team Match with the Osirian Portal and High Impact is being looked forward to by fans of Force One Pro Wrestling state wide.
6. In what many are calling the match of the night, the “Canadian Shooter” Tommy Force with his diabolical manager JADEN battled the White Lotus in a Canada vs. US Flag Match. Lotus was the first to retrieve the flag when Tommy Force listed him for a powerbomb and he grabbed the American Flag on his way down. Tommy Force, who was upset with the loss, took his Canadian flag and busted it over the back of the White Lotus. He then sunk in is submission hold, the Stampede Strangle Hold, onto Lotus. When Lotus was choked unconscious Force’s manager JADEN first put the American Flag over Lotus’s Prone Body and then draped the Canadian Flag on top of that. The crowd heat was so intense for the match and the post match beat down that Force & JADEN had trouble getting back to the locker room safely
7. “Bad Boy” Danny Pagan barely held on to his Force One Heavyweight championship belt with a win over Patch, when Patch’s manager JADEN’s interference backfired. Before Pagan could begin his victory celebration, Danny Doring came to ringside and demanded that a contract be signed for the next Force One show in Manahawkin on February 16th called “Against All Odds.” Both Wrestlers had to be pulled apart and fans of the company are already talking about this showdown.
From all of us at Force One, we’d like to thank our sponsors, the City of Egg Harbor, and most of all the 400+ fans who supported us by coming to our house.
Dignitaries in the audience were Kathy Fitzgerald, Current WWE Diva Cherry from Smackdown Fame, the “Modern Day Enforcer” Eric Cooper, Amadeus, CJ O’Doyle & KJ Hellfire

* BWO Southern State after a very successful and impactful second show known as Gold Rush, will return on Friday February 15th, 2007 at the Hightstown American Legion in Hightstown, New Jersey!
* FOUR huge matches have already been signed for this huge event!
MAIN EVENT! BWO SOUTHERN STATE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE!
“Dirty” Don Montoya (Champion)
versus
“Modern Day Enforcer” Eric Cooper (Challenger)
- Don Montoya shocked the fans in attendance when he was able to defeat Hightstown’s own Eric Cooper and capture the BWO Southern State Heavyweight Championship in controversial fashion. The championship committee immediately decided that a rematch needed to be signed as soon as possible! Southern State officials are going to be making it very clear that they do not want any interference in this match as they feel Cooper deserves a fair shot at the title that could of very well have been his! Montoya is slowly becoming the most hated man in BWO Southern State, and he is looking to keep his title at all costs. Will Cooper finally grab that elusive Heavyweight title? Or will Montoya sneak his way out of Hightstown still the champion?
BWO SOUTHERN STATE PHOENIX CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE LINE!
“Canadian Shooter” Tommy Forcer w/ JADEN (Champion)
versus
Draven Blaze
- These two ended the match that many are calling the match of the night in which Force was able to walk out as the first ever Southern State Phoenix Champion. These two will square off once again with Force’s title on the line. This one promises to be explosive as Blaze is looking to walk out with some gold. JADEN has promised that Force will once again make Blaze submit and leave Hightstown with the championship still around his waist.
RETURN MATCH! NO COUNT-OUTS!
Steve “The Jerk” Off w/ The Off Army
versus
“Lone Wolf” Evan Myers
- These two also met at Gold Rush, and Steve off was on the verge of being defeated when his personal security pulled him out and Evan was awarded victory via count-out. Evan Myers told officials he wants to get his hands on Steve Off and they obliged. Steve Off will not be able to get himself counted out as there are no count-outs in this match! There must be a winner this time as Steve Off and Evan Myers, many who say these two are the future will collide, and there _will be a winner!
GRUDGE MATCH!
“Latin Terror” Anhell Gonzalez
versus
“Puerto Rican Prodigy” Chrono Chris
- At Gold Rush, Chrono Chris was victorious in his match, when he was then attacked by Anhell Gonzalez and Don Montoya just to made an example of. Chrono came out later in the evening to chase them off of Cooper. Chrono demanded he got a piece of either Anhell or Montoya. However, Chrono may have bitten off more then he can chew as Anhell has accepted the challenge. The “Latin Terror” wants to show why he is the dominant force in Southern State, and the young feisty Chrono wants to prove himself. This one may steal the show!
ALSO ON THIS NIGHT…
* Richie Rotten & Chaos are going to be in attendance, and lord only knows what they have planned this time! Last time they interrupted a singles match and turned it into a tag team match. These two are rude, crude, and pissed off and are looking to take it out on some unwilling people!
* “Dangerous” Danny Danger’s open challenge series will continue! Last time he was able to hold off two people! Who is going to step up to the plate this time?
ALSO APPEARING…
The BWO Southern State debut of “Sugarfoot” Alex Payne, “Da Remix of Pro Wrestling” Vince Steele, Problem Child,The Sensational One (S-1) and more TBA!
Tickets can now be reserved!!

Since I live in South Jersey (the best part of New Jersey) I thought I would let people know of a few good places to train in South Jersey.
1st is the Monster Factory. If you are Brand New to the Sport Here is one of the places I recommend you train. They have been around for a long time, they have a history of getting their trainees into the WWE, and they run shows almost every Saturday. If you are interested in Training at the Monster Factory go to http://www.monsterfactory.com for more details
The 2nd place I recommend is not only for new students to the business but also a place for established and already trained workers can go to improve their skills or to keep sharp. That place is Tommy Cairo’s Force One Training School. Run by a real ECW Original and a man who has been up and down the Indy circuit: Tommy Cairo, along with his Trainers “Puerto Rican Bad Boy” Danny Pagan (From the WWC In Puerto Rico), The White Lotus (Someone I go way back with) and Tommy Force (Someone I have managed in the past). This school has two rings and a lot of experience to draw upon. They also run shows and the next show will be on October the 27th in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. If you want to be a part of Force One check out their web page at http://www.forceoneprowrestling.com
