Nitemare has been a huge fan favorite most recently, but definitely not a stranger in EGW. Bringing a different look and some great wrestling to the ring, he has been in the fans’ eyes for quite some time. Here’s some info on this great man.
DB: Can you tell me about your training, such as who, where when…
NM: I began my quest for training about 5 years ago. I grew up watching and loving wrestling and wanted to do this with my life. I had a friend that was training at the Dungeon in Reading, Pa. He got me hooked up with the owners. I owe so much gratitude to Mark and Troy Mest and the Creamator for all the support and training they gave me. I was in the ring training 3 nights a week usually 4 to 5 straight hours a night. 4 months after I started training I was put into my first match. About 1 year later I got involved with E.G.W..
DB: Can you tell me about your debut match?
NM: Ha… It was actually quite embarrassing. I was not aware that I was even supposed to wrestle that night. We were doing a ring rental for a fed in Massachusetts. I went along to help out as ring crew. They needed a fill in for a tag match and threw me into the mix. It was my first show in front of a crowd and I was so nervous. When our music kicked and the lights went out we went down to the ring together. It was pitch black and just as the lights came on I found myself walking right into the ring post. Everyone in the front row on that side of the ring started laughing and I couldn’t shake it. The crowd rode me hard that match and to this day it is my most embarrassing in-ring moment.
DB: How has your experience been so far with Elite Generation Wrestling?
NM: Honestly, it’s been pretty good. I have no real complaints. They have been good to me and I think we have a great relationship with each other. We are a family.
DB: Your current storyline in EGW is the main storyline at this point with you chasing after Manslaughter, a very seasoned vet of this business, who is the current EGW Heavyweight Champion. How would you describe the feud so far?
NM: Wow the things I could say about Manslaughter! First off, I will pay him the respect he deserves. He is old school with his beliefs and I was trained that way. So we can agree on some things. All in all I never thought I would get anywhere close to the top of E.G.W. I’m just honored to be there and feuding with an opponent as respectable as Manslaughter. I don’t like his tactics and he has not beat me fair and square even once. He is an awesome champion. I think I would be a better champion and I’m pretty sure he knows it. That’s why he cheats to keep the belt. I have underestimated him as an opponent. That was my biggest mistake. I’ve not been a champion, so I don’t know what I would do to keep it. I would imagine his tactics, while dirty, may be just as necessary. He will bow down to the powers of the darkside. His reign as champion will soon come to an end.
DB: What has been the most challenging thing to overcome so far in wrestling?
NM: All in all I’d say myself. I am very hard on myself. I am my own worst critic. If I step out of that ring and feel like I didn’t give 110%, in my mind I have let the fans down. I’ve also suffered some serious injuries. I was so scared that I was going to have to hang up my boots at a young age.
DB: What has been the most rewarding experience in wrestling?
NM: The fans. They are the heart and soul of this business. Without them, we as wrestlers are nothing. The feeling I get when I know they are satisfied with what they are seeing is by far the most rewarding feeling I’ve had the pleasure of having.
DB: I have heard you say once that if you ever become a champion, especially the EGW Heavyweight Champion, that you would be a fighting champion. How would you describe this type of mind set?
NM: Basically I would defend the belt in every match. I would not be involved in non title matches. No time for that. I’m not going to hide behind stipulations to keep the belt. If someone else earns the right to be called the best then so be it. The torch has to get passed eventually. I refuse to go down without the best fight I can give. If you’re gonna take it from me, you’re gonna earn it.
DB: How would you describe your character?
NM: I’m a man from the dark side. I live to beat guys down. Whether I win or lose I just want to fight. The fans break me down and bring me out of my dark shell. They are the only reason Nitemare has to exist.
DB: Beside EGW, where else would Nitemare fans, and PWD readers be able to see you work?
NM: As of right now I am wrestling solely for E.G.W. I’m keeping my schedule light due to the business of my personal life. Eventually I plan to spread myself out a bit more and gain a bigger fan base but for now E.G.W. is where they can find the man from the dark side.
So there you have it, Nitemare, the man chasing the EGW Heavyweight Championship. I love watching him wrestle, and I stand behind him, being a stable member of his. Watch out Manslaughter, Nitemare is chasing your belt.
