The Pretty Hate Machine Talks!
This interview is with Force One Pro Wrestling Star the “Pretty Hate Machine” Jason Gotti. He talks about his wrestling history, how he got into the business and about his upcoming match with anther on May 3rd in Egg Harbor City, NJ for Force One Pro Wrestling
JADEN: I first met you at the Blackball’d Wrestling Federation last summer. Since then I have seen you all over and you have worked hard to make a name for your self in this business. But everyone has to start somewhere, and you started many years ago at Les Morgan’s school. Tell me about your training there. Tell me what it was like to train with current Force One Pro Wrestling superstars like Diego DeMarco and the White Lotus. What is your relationship with those two wrestlers?
Gotti: Well yes that’s very true, everyone has to start somewhere. I first started training actually when I was 16 and trained with Jeff Rocker in the summer of 2002. I trained there during the summer when I was off from school. Then when I started training again and finished my training pretty much is when I went to Les’s Place. I started training there in April of 2003 and stopped in August, 2004. My training was a lot different than the training now at the Force One school. Les had a garage on his property and he would store his machines and stuff for his job. But in one area there was a wrestling ring and some weights and stuff. The ring was very, very, stiff. You would have to go and visit it to see what I’m talking about. You could only run the ropes one way pretty much because of the room being so small. I remember the ropes were actually ropes. But the thing that was great about that place is I learned a lot of things. I had a very old school type of training there. Where you pretty much learned and did it. What I mean is, I learned how to wrestle on the fly there. Meaning having nothing planned beforehand and just go in the ring and do it. That’s how they were taught in the olden days. We would do the routine spots, they taught me those. But other than that, if we were having a match with one of the trainers, we just worked on the fly. I think that’s one of the best things I learned there. I can go into the ring, just know the finish and have a match with anybody. I usually talk my opponents through things. A lot of guys can’t do that. They plan it out from start to finish. I hate that, to me I just wanna go out there and do it. But not everyone can work like that.
In training I also learned the importance of timing. I feel one of the better things I have is timing. I’m usually good and knowing when to hit a big move, and why to hit it at that point. Occasionally Les would come in and watch me work. He would give me pointers. Another man, Ricky Bauer would come in sometimes and offer his advice on things. I also have to mention Cannonball, who initially helped a lot in the beginning with my chain wrestling and selling. My training was good there, and at the time I didn’t realise as to why they trained me the way they did. But I’m glad they did, because I turned out pretty good. I thank Diego and Lotus for that. As far as my relationship with the two, I see them when I train at the Force One school and at shows. I have more of a goofy personality and click more with Diego, but Lotus is cool as well. I like them both.
JADEN: Now you are just now making a name for yourself but you actually started many years ago. Then you took a sabbatical for a few years. You have come back Larger but meaner. Why did you take time off? What made you come back? Does it bother you to see others you trained with at a higher level when you basically had to start over?
Gotti: Yes I did take time off, I was 18 when I left. I’m now 22. I was pretty much done with it. It just didn’t seem like it was working out, and I was young and other things on my mind. I went to school for a little bit and did other things. But it was always in the back of mind. The whole, I know I can do it. When I left I was tired of not getting booked, I worked 3 shows in a year and half and I was like man, this ain’t going anywhere. The Force One students are lucky they have a federation and Cairo is giving them a place to learn and get better. I didn’t have that at my school. I didn’t get a chance to go and learn and try stuff in front of a crowd much. The place I worked at, ran one show and then closed. Then there were some problems and the school shut down. So I just said the hell with it. I really started missing it. So after some things negative happened in my life, I was like I’m just gonna go for it, I know I can do and I miss the feeling of wrestling. So I took about 4 months and was really hitting the gym and looked good. I went to a seminar for PWU where 2 Cold Scorpio was running it. I did some stuff and I was like wow I’m surprised I’m doing it pretty good. It’s was like I never forgot how to do things. Then I heard his lecture and everything he said is what Les told Diego and Lotus and what they told me. And I’m like, ok so maybe they were right in the things they taught me. I would end up contacting a little promotion out of Lyndhurst, New Jersey called Liberty Wrestling Organization. I went up and tried out before they show and they were impressed with me and my skills. So thats when I knew I could do it. The following month which was the first week of July, 2007, I made my comeback and had not had a match in 3 years. I worked IMA Shiteed. He does this Arab gimmick, and we had one hell of a match. I was like “Oh shit I can still do this and I can do it pretty good.” My girlfriend was surprised and I was myself. It’s weird, it was really like I never left. From that point on I been working almost every weekend for the past 10 months.
JADEN: You have worked out with Force One Pro Wrestling superstar the Rockin’ Rebel at his Top Gun school before it moved. Now I see you working out at the Force One Dojo. What have you learned from the Rebel? How about what have you learned from Tommy Cairo and his crew of teachers like Tommy Force, Diego DeMarco and the White Lotus? How do their training styles differ? Is it a blow to your ego to hve to start over?
Gotti: I actually never worked out at the Top Gun school. I have worked Rebel several times in various feds though. I have trained at the Force One School. One thing their School is the place to be. I’m not just kissing ass either, because I don’t give a damn if someone does not like me or not. But their students and their school are above and beyond the schools I have seen. Look at their students, they’re very good and progress well. I love training there, everyone is very professional. Tommy Cairo is not a asshole either, he treats you with resepct and listens to your ideas. I respect him alot for that. Working with everyone is fun there, I enjoy it.
JADEN: When you first came to F-1 you were associated with Steve the Teacher. What is your relationship with the Teach? You since branched off on your own and even were in a title tourney for the Force One Iron League Title. Has going out on your own helped you or do you think that you are better off with a Partner, Mentor or Manager guiding you?
Gotti: I like being on my own alot better, I don’t want to the side attraction I want to be the focus. Steve is a friend of mine and if it was not for Steve who introduced me to everyone initally in the buisness, there would be no Jason Gotti. I started out being his manager. I was “The Teachers Pet” Melvin Nerdly and did a nerd gimmick. The thing about that was I was a stocky teenager who looked more like he could mug you than a dork. My personality was not for it. I had fun with it though, I got to manage all over and got pretty good at it. I still see Steve. Steve’s cool and he works Garden State Wrestling with me.
JADEN: Who are some of the people you have (not Just Force One) been in the ring with since you came back to the sport? Who has challenged you the most? Who would you like to wrestle again? Is there any one in Force one you are gunning for? Is there any one in Force One you don’t want to get into the ring with?
Gotti: I have wrestled about 33 matches, maybe more, and wrestled for 12 different feds in a 10 month period. I have wrestled alot of guys, Rockin Rebel, Ryan Loot, Vinny Nero, Vince Steel, a lot of guys. I would have to say my favorite match and best match since I came back is the one with Vinny Nero. You can see it on youtube along with other matches. It just went so smooth and was fun. I love working Garden State it’s just fun and I don’t have to worry about bullshit. It should be that way. I would like to wrestle Trent Acid simply because he’s my girlfriend’s neighbor, and I wanna prove how good I am. He’s never seen me work, and my girl Renee wants to see that. Plus we would have a killer match. I also want to work Ryu Lee. He’s the new protege of Diego and Lotus. It would be cool to see the very first student of theirs (Me) work the new protege. See who would win. I guarantee me after I choke him out. :}
JADEN: You have worked a lot of different places. What Federations do you currently work besides Force One?
Gotti: Yes I have worked all over in short time. I currently work for Garden State Wrestling in Jersey. Classic Championship Wrestling in Pennsylvania. As well as Pennsylvania Championship Wrestling Alliance, World Wide Wrestling Alliance and I will be making my debut in New York for Metroplis Wrestling Federation and another debut in Pennsylvania for Real Pro Wrestling Federation. I have also wrestled for these feds in the past: Warriors of Wrestling(NJ), The Wrestling Federation (PA), Total Impact Wrestling (PA), Liberty Wrestling Organization(NJ), ACPW (PA), South Jersey Championship Wrestling (NJ), Elite Generation Wrestling (PA), Jersey Championship Wrestling (NJ), 5 Star Wrestling (PA, West Virgina), Empire Wrestling Alliance (NJ), World Star Wrestling(PA), Family Wrestling Organization (NJ), Colonial Wrestling Association (NJ), Pro Wrestling Xplosion(NJ).
JADEN: Have you held any championship gold yet in this business?
Gotti: Yes I held the World Wide Wrestling Alliance Intercontiental title for a very brief period of time. I pinned Chucky D to win that. Their IC belt is 24-7 so I lost it pretty much right away. I’ll get it again though, and maybe some other gold in WWWA. We’ll have to see.
JADEN: What are your goals in professional wrestling?
Gotti: My goal is to steal the show and try to have the most entertaining match of the night. I don’t always acomplish that, but I try my best. It takes two to make a good match and only one to make a bad match. So it needs to be on both ends of the spectrum to do that. I also want to wrestle in Japan. I think it’s a realistic goal because of my style. I throw alot of suplex variations and some other stuff. I can see me working there in a few years. But right now I just want to get better and keep learning. I’m realistic. I want to hold Gold in Force One and Garden State. Those are my two goals right now. I would love to work for WWE as well. That’s my dream, and through hardwork and determention I can achive that goal. I achieved my goals before I came back to wrestling again. When I came back in July. My goal was to win a title and work the ECW arena. I have done both. I will acomplish my goals one day you can bet your ass on that!
JADEN: What do you think about your match with Force One Superstar Panther coming up on May 3rd in Egg Harbor City, NJ? What strategy do you have planned for him. If you beat Panther what will be next for you?
Gotti: I think I would not want to be Panther right now. I am a 280 lbs. pissed off monster and I want to take his head off. I’m going to destroy Panther and choke him out come this Saturday! I will give him his credit, he’s pretty good. But he will be just another victim when I’m through with him. After I destroy him, I’m going after anyone who has the guts to knock this chip off my shoulder. Come on down boys, because I serve anyone!
JADEN: Any final words, plugs or advertisements you want to tell the fans before we wrap this interview up?
Gotti: Yes I want to thank all the fans of professional wrestling for supporting wrestling. It’s cliche because with out you there would be no wrestling. I also want to thank my fans for coming out and supporting me. But thanks guys.
