Q & A with Angelina

“This is not a game or a fashion show to me.”

So says this brunette battler from the Lone Star State. Like a lot of young newcomers to the sport, she has her eyes fixed on big things for herself. But, unlike many others, she’s not fooling herself as to how to achieve them… she knows it’s going to take a lot of hard work. She’s no awestruck kid, and when an opponent steps into the ring with Angelina, she’d better bring her ‘A’ game, because she’s in for a FIGHT!

LADYSPORTS: When did you first get into the sport?

ANGELINA: I began training at the Texas Wrestling Academy in January of ‘06.

LS: Who trained you?
A: Rudy “Boy” Gonzalez… the best in the business.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
A: As a child, Luna Vachon used to scare the devil out of me. Her look was tough, scary, and totally unusual. But I always believed that one day I would be tough enough to fight her. My grandmother was a Marine during the Korean War as well… she is a one tough lady who always believed in me. In fact, I was raised by Marines in my family. I was born tough!

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
A: I played softball, volleyball, basketball, and also ran track and cross country. I love competing… everything in life is a competition. I also enjoy watching football and boxing.

LS: As a worker, how would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality and strengths?

A: I am gonna do what I have to do to win. Nobody is going to stand in my way. I am confident in my ability. I spent two years in the best school in Texas… or anywhere for that matter; no one is tougher or better! I am in it to win it. This is not a game or a fashion show to me.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?

A: Training begins with our squat sets: four sets of fifty squats, 25 push-ups, and 25 crunches. There are no breaks, as there are no breaks in a match. Squats are the most important part, because your leg strength is the base for everything that we do both at the school and in the ring. We also do our warm-ups which are the rolls and bumps. We do drills and chain wrestling everyday, as well as two matches.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
A:
American style, mat wrestling.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
A: Becky Bayless and Jessica James.

LS: Who are your allies?
A: I don’t need them. I fly solo. You can’t trust anyone.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
A: Winning a “date” with Becky Bayless… for her Texas Ladies Title, that is!

LS: What was your worst loss?

A: Losing that match with her for the title… she is underhanded and a cheater.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven’t yet?
A: Simply Luscious, who was also trained by Rudy Boy Gonzalez.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
A: “Don’t mess with her, she can beat you up..!”

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
A: Being able to control the reactions of the fans. It is all in your hands. People don’t have to like me, and I don’t have to be nice.

LS: What are your fans like?

A: The men come to see me and the would love to be me… or maybe they want to beat me? But I’d like to see them try.

LS: What is your personal motto?
A: I have more than one… “True friends stab you in the front.” - Oscar Wilde
“Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.” - my grandfather

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
A: Being able to wrestle every day and see the world.

LS: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Quitters never start quitting… they never had it in the first place. – RBG

Maria Montana vs Jennidee

“DEFENDING THE FLAG”
Shot exclusively for the PGWA, Maria Montana travels from America all the way to Manchester, England in order to face Liverpool’s own Jennidee!

With her MMA background, Maria brings an intense fighting style to this one…and that suits Jennidee just fine. This being a submission only bout, neither holds anything back to make the other surrender. And right from the start, there’s personal animosity between them, as Jennidee gets “snotty” (Maria’s own word), and the blond retaliates with some rough tactics!

Quickly, the fight escalates to a combination of painfully crippling holds…spiked with liberal doses of hairpulling, hand smothering, and even biting! But make no mistake about it…for all of the viciousness, there is some incredible grappling work from both beauties in this one. Still, their anger turns this match into a struggle to punish and injure the other, and each woman unleashes a torrent of physical abuse on her opponent.  This one turns personal!

Ultimately, one grappler is made to tap out, or risk serious injury. But afterward, when the camera is turned off, the loser claims she was jumped by the winner in the locker room! Clearly, the hatred between them wasn’t over when the match came to an end….
