Hard Justice was TNA’s first ever PPV in New Jersey, so of course “JerzyGirl” Karen Belcher was there at ringside with her camera!

Here are all the results, along with Jerzy’s comments and photos.

Before the action started, Eric Young came out to tell everyone that his mom had just called to tell him Brett Favre was a New York Jet. That didn’t go over so well with the crowd, who shouted back that they were New Jersey Giants fans. Then Eric tried to get cheers by naming other teams, but called them the New York Giants (yeah, that’s the official name, but their stadium is in New Jersey!), so he got a mixed reaction. He finally did get some cheers by naming the Jersey Devils. The Grandmaster Caz and Filthee came out to do the official song for Hard Justice. Ice-T was supposed to be there, but had some travel problems and couldn’t make it.

X Division Championship Match

“Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams with Rhaka Khan defeated Consequences Creed after Sheik Abdul Bashir hits Creed with a chair while the ref’s back is turned. After the match, Bashir gets in the ring and drags a camera man over to get a closeup of how he destroyed red, white, and blue. Petey and Rhaka Khan stand on the ramp looking puzzled about what’s going on, but they don’t interfere.

Six Woman Knockouts Match - Special Referee Traci Brooks

Taylor Wilde, Gail Kim and ODB defeated Awesome Kong and The Beautiful People with Raisha Saeed when Taylor rolled up Velvet Skye for the pin. Taylor doesn’t really have the skills or personality to be a convincing champion in a women’s division like this. Roxxi LaVeaux or Raisha Saeed (Cheerleader Melissa) would be far better. Velvet Skye is even worse, but the match was still excellent since there were several better wrestlers in there.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match

LAX, Homicide & Hernandez with Hector Guerrero & Salinas were defeated by Beer Money, Robert Roode & “Cowboy” James Storm with Jacquelyn, after Beer Money broke a beer bottle in Homicide’s face, getting glass in his eyes. Filthee came out with LAX before the match, and did another song. This was another bloody brawl, with the added attraction of Jacquelyn and Salinas getting into a catfight right in front of our seats.

Black Tie Brawl n’ Chain Match

“Black Machismo” Jay Lethal with SoCal Val defeated “The Guru” Sonjay Dutt, but Jay may have lost Val for good, as she left in a huff midway through the match. The rules were as follows: Both superstars were chained together, and you could win by pinning your opponent or tearing off his tuxedo. Both Lethal and Dutt were also free to use the chain as a weapon. Promoters and bookers, take note: NEVER have the participants chained together in any match that involves removing any kind of clothing from the body part that is chained! This match would have been better if the clothing hadn’t gotten stuck on the chain and dangled there. Both men gave it their all, however, and the match got several “Holy Shit!” chants,

New Jersey Street Fight Match

“Instant Classic” Christian Cage and “War Machine” Rhino defeated Team 3D, Brother Ray & Devon after a bloody brawl that went all through the crowd. Weapons used included tables, ladders, chairs, and traffic signs. After the match was over, Johnny Devine ran in with a kendo stick and helped 3D beat down Christian and Rhino. Abyss made the save and Black Hole Slammed Devine.

Last Man Standing Match

“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated Kurt Angle in an excellent, brutal match. After the match, Angle seemed to be injured, but when the EMT’s came to take him out on a stretcher, AJ returned and beat Angle some more. Angle later walked to the back, leaning on the trainers. As AJ was leaving the second time, the lights went out. When they came back on, Sting was there and gave AJ a Scorpion Death Drop. We still don’t know what Sting’s up to, but my guess would be that he thinks the young wrestlers aren’t showing enough respect for the old ones.

Six Sides of Steel Cage Weapons Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Samoa Joe (C) defeated Booker T after the lights went out and a mystery person (probably Jeff Jarrett) dropped a guitar out of the ceiling to him. Joe hit Booker with the guitar to get the win. Oddly, Booker was able to properly apply the rear naked choke on Joe (Yes, Booker’s legs are long enough to reach around Joe’s belly!), but for some reason, it had little effect on Joe. I guess in wrestling, that hold only works if you’re too fat to properly apply it. When Joe made his entrance, he climbed on the railing directly in front of me. All I could think of was what a waste that was — I’m sure there were fans present who would have been thrilled, but I was actually annoyed. It’s worth noting that despite the huge push TNA has given Joe, he’s still not really over with the fans. The crowd was split about 50-50 between cheering for Joe and Booker.

This was another very good PPV from TNA, and it ran just a few minutes short of three hours. It’s well worth buying the replay. The crowd was very lively and loud throughout, though it doesn’t come across fully on the tv (I watched the replay).

TNA’s next PPV is No Surrender on September 14 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, near Toronto.
