Sent to me by a friend: An interesting read on how anti-intellectualism is affecting and destroying America.
You can see the dumbing down of our country on a daily basis. Just turn on a television. Look at how many channels are sporting “reality” programs. Programming that really brings nothing to the table but senseless titillation. News shows talk down to us like we’re children. We’re encouraged to seek out entertainment over enrichment. There are only two extreme views on any subject, any others are dismissed and derided. If you read, think, and come to your own conclusions, you’re regarded as elitist.
(AH: I think elitist is undoubtedly preferable to ignorant dumb ass. McCain started the elitist name-calling thing, but this is the same person who can’t remember how many houses he owns when asked. (By the way, it’s ten houses, worth almost fourteen million dollars - none being foreclosed upon, like nearly 20% of American homeowners are dealing with right now.)
But, to keep on how sad were getting: We are changing the Olympic medal count from just gold medals (China’s leading) to an overall medal count, whereupon we are then portrayed as the ‘winners.’ Is it really better to have 84 (bronze) medals, or (China) 47 gold ones (USA- 27 gold)? Last Weekend…
If you came out to Outlanders Car & Bike show, thank you! It was hard to find and I had no details on the booking… the promoter wasn’t even able to return my calls, since he was traveling back from Sturgis and had no phone reception. I almost didn’t go. But alas, I’d given him until Friday 3:45 pm to call and he did — at 3:41. Dammit, lol. I was already in my bikini, sunning. I ran back indoors, changed, grabbed my bags, drove fairly illegally to the airport and managed to make my flight.
Louisville to Washington - Dulles. Seven hours later (on a trip that would have taken eight to drive), I landed. I still had a ninety-minute ride out to Luray, was starving, tired and everything at the airport was closed. I was stuck in the pickup section of the airport with a huge, (unwashed) family who had apparently just immigrated here and had their 72 bags piled up, blocking all the windows. Which didn’t matter anyway, since promoter was two hours late picking me up. Lovely. I managed not to flip out (anyone who knows me knows this is rare) and dude later said he was afraid I’d be a diva like some of the others have been. Hmmm….. I couldn’t help but wonder if he routinely made their flights to suit his schedule, then left them at the airports, too? That might have something to do with it… However, he did apologize.
The rest of the weekend went well. The show was great; the weather was amazing and the cars and bikes — and ladies — spectacular. Many had been used in films. The cars, not the girls. I had a chance to meet and hang out with quite a few people who’d come out and even did a few photo shoots on several attendee’s cars. One guy brought Morgan Freeman’s motorcycle that had been used in Evan Almighty, which I crawled all over for a shoot. This is to be posted shortly in my Members area if you want to enjoy some great eye candy.

THE LODGER
A couple takes on an 18-year-old girl as a lodger.
She asked if she could have a bath but the woman of the house told her they didn’t have a bathroom and she could use a tin bath in front of the fire.
‘Mondays the best night, when my husband goes out to darts’, she said, so the girl agreed to have a bath the following Monday.
After her husband had gone to the pub for his darts match, the woman filled the bath and watched as the girl got undressed.
She was surprised to see that the lass didn’t have any pubic hair and told her husband when he came home.
He didn’t believe her so she said, ‘Next week I’ll leave a gap in the curtains so that you can see for yourself’.
The following Monday, while the girl ! again got undressed, the wife asked, ‘Do you shave?’
‘No’, replied the girl. ‘I’ve just never grown any hairs down there. Do you have hairs?
‘Oh yes’, said the woman and she showed off her great, hairy muff.
When the husband got back in she asked, ‘Did you see it?’
‘Yes’, he said. ‘But why the hell did you have to show her yours?’
‘Why not?’ she said. ‘You’ve seen it all before.’
‘I know’, he said, ‘but the darts team hadn’t'!
