Philadelphia Gets In On THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET In Just 10 Days!

CHIKARA’s Chicago and Cleveland Debuts Now Available on DVD at SmartMarkVideo.com!

.

The time is ticking, and the expectations are an all time high, CHIKARMY, as we are just 10 days from the massive collision that is THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET: CHIKARA vs. Big Japan Wrestling in Easton on Saturday, October 18th, and glorious South Philadelphia on Sunday, October 19th. With the BJW contingent slated to arrive in the States late next week, Team CHIKARA, as announced earlier this week by Captain Mike Quackenbush, has gone into deep preparation for the exhaustive undertaking that lies ahead of them. Let’s take a look at that, as well what else is lined up for the 2nd half of THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET, as we return to the famed New Alhambra Arena for another Sunday afternoon of wrestling fun…

Team BJW: Numazawa - Ohashi - Inoue - Ishikawa - Ito - Okabayashi - Sekimoto vs. Team CHIKARA: Akuma - Fire - Soldier - Worker - Kingston - Quackenbush - Castagnoli!

While Night One of THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET in Easton will feature a BJW-curated Best-Of-5 singles challenge series, Night Two finds the ball in CHIKARA’s court, and has led to the creation of a 7-on-7 match that give THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET its name. Both teams have designated their line-ups, and the order of entry into the match (as seen above), and will send their men into battle, one by one, staring Jaki Numazawa for BJW and Gran Akuma for CHIKARA, until a side has seen all 7 men eliminated. It is a true marathon of a fight that will see competitors faced with a constant stream of fresh opponents, as they struggle to regain their composure from the last challenge. Here are the finalized line-ups for both squads

CHIKARA:
1) Gran Akuma
2) Fire Ant
3) Soldier Ant
4) Worker Ant
5) Eddie Kingston
6) Mike Quackenbush (C)
7) Claudio Castagnoli

Big Japan Wrestling:
1) Jaki Numazawa
2) Atsushi Ohashi
3) Katsumasa Inoue
4) Shinya Ishikawa
5) Ryuji Ito (C)
6) Yuji Okabayashi
7) Daisuke Sekimoto

The Super Smash Brothers of Player Uno and Player Dos vs. The Osirian Portal of Ophidian and Amasis!

Also on tap for Philly is a huge undercard of bouts featuring the rest of your CHIKARA favorites, including the NEW CHIKARA Campeones de Parejas, Player Uno and Player Dos, The Super Smash Brothers. Always the fighting duo, the SSBs have signed for a non-title bout against the team that they defeated in August in to earn the first point in their quest, The Osirian Portal. Amasis and Ophidian have not forgotten the embarrassment of being defeated at “All That Glitters”, and want to prove to the SSBs and the world that they are the truly superior duo, belts or no belts. This one could also be a preview of a future title bout, as The Osirians have 2 points heading into THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET, and could leave Night One in Easton with the necessary three to cash in for a title shot down the line - that is, of course, if they manage to get past the SSBs in Philly.

Jimmy Olsen meets Vin Gerard in non-title action!

Also signed for Philly is another match with title ramifications, as well as an increasingly heated grudge to be settled as Jimmy Jam Olsen finds himself in (hypothetical) one-on-one action with Young Lions Cup champion Vin Gerard of the “UnStable” group that emerged last month in Philadelphia at the expense of Jimmy’s face and neck. While Vin Gerard has once again insisted that Jimmy is not a Cup-level challenger, he has agreed that a win here would be Jimmy in line for a shot in the future. But honestly, speaking with Jimmy Olsen in the time since his brother Colin joined up with Vin Gerard and STIGMA last month, he’s more concerned with ringing his hands around the neck of the man Jimmy claims poisoned the mind of his brother than earning a future title shot. Colin told Jimmy that he needed focus, but did the UnStable get more than they bargained for by drawing the wrath of a furious, and borderline obsessed Jimmy Olsen?

Delirious and Hallowicked vs. UltraMantis Black and Crossbones!

And with the previously mentioned appearance of the NEW Campeones de Parejas on tap for Philly, we have the strange task of announcing the appearance of the FORMER Campeones de Parjes for Night Two of THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET as well. It will be the team of Incoherence (Hallowicked and Delirious), the most successful duo ever to hold the gold, going back to basics and looking for their first point against a duo that is looking accumulate a third point, UltraMantis Black and Crossbones, collectively known as The Order Of The Neo-Solar Temple! The animosity between these two sides goes back nearly three years, as it was injury to UMB that brought Hallowicked and Delirious together in the first place. The pairs have always been at odds, even up through last month in Philadelphia when Incoherence, Helios and Hydra defeated the odd-ball foursome of the Neo Solar Temple and The Best Around.  Will this be a new day for Incoherence as they look to become the first two-time champions in CHIKARA, or the potential reign of deep, dark night as The Order tries to claim the third and final point?

Lince Dorado squares off with Icarus!

October 19th in Philly will also see the end of what has become a ritual over the course of the past few months here at the OFFICE. After last month’s two -DQs in 3 minutes debacle, Eddie Kingston has declared he is done fighting the young man who has obsessively challenged him all summer long, Lince Dorado. Despite Lince’s best efforts to convince him otherwise, Kingston would not budge on his stance, and has instead elected to join up with Team CHIKARA for the THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET match.  That decision left Lince with no opponent, until the always cantankerous Icarus of F.I.S.T. got wind of the situation during a visit to the OFFICE last week. Long story short, Icarus claims to have no problem matching the kind of beatings Kingston has inflicted on Lince, and challenged “The Golden Lynx” to try his best to get up from the assualt of “The Winged Ring Warrior” in Philadelphia. In no time flat, Lince accepted the challenge, and these two long-time enemies will do battle at Night Two of THE GLOBAL GAUNTLET.

Tim Donst and Hydra take on STIGMA and Colin Delaney!

Lastly for today’s announcements, a tag bout pitting two newfound rival factions against each other as “The Big League Superstar” Colin Delaney and STIGMA of the UnStable face the challenge of Tim Donst and his resident BFF, “The All-Natural Nautical Nuisance” Hydra, known worldwide as The Sea Donsters. Donst’s September saw plenty of unpleasant interaction with the UnStable, including being FU’d on a the concrete floor at STYLE & SUBSTANCE, and being ambushed relentlessly in Cleveland. Suffice to say, the All-American isn’t ready to back off the fight just yet, and has enlisted the help of his newly-well amigo Hydra to attempt to even the score with Delaney and STIGMA. Will the combination that proved to be magic all summer long be the answer to the Donst’s problems heading into the fall?
